Un-Intelligent Authoring

Most online authoring systems are un-intelligent.

They owe their origins to the successful Microsoft Powerpoint presentation software that radicalised the way Slide Shows supported face to face meetings in the 1990s.

Integration with AICC and SCORM rules in the 1990’s, meant that bookmarking and test results could be collected on corporate LMS systems, but the fact remains that traditional online courses retain their slide show 'plus' format.

Delegates hate what they call the ‘click through and test’ online courses they produce. Worse than this, these authoring systems actually restrict the ability of professional trainers to deliver training for three reasons:

1. They normally require trainers to 'compile' courses. Such courses are not easily changed, updated or improved.

2. LMS systems typically require the courses to be loaded behind their company firewall. This means external trainers lose access to their own Intellectual Property.

3. Two-way interaction (delegate with the tutor) is at the heart of all good training. Slide Shows inevitably take a one-way approach.

WhizzAuthor is the first authoring system to offer an intelligent learning platform.

It is a fast authoring system designed to make it easy for subject matter experts to create courses quickly. But it is different:

A. It is database driven which means;

  • authors can track and improve or update their courses in real time
  • professional trainers can keep control of their IP.

B. It supports two-way interaction tutor/delegate. This can be added synchronously and asynchronously, allowing marking, individual help, inclusion of webinars etc as standard. It also allows tutors to direct individual delegates into more relevant training based on their progress.

C. It gives tutors the option of integrating four training delivery mechanisms into each course;

  • Online
  • Face to face or coaching
  • Marked Work
  • Social; news, groups and embedding.

D. Whizz Author comes with its own publishing system. This allows trainers to publish their courses:

  • to new LMSs they create for their customers
  • existing third party LMSs
  • or the general public, and still keep full central control.
