Using this Website – accessibility rules on this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website and courses. This means you should be able to:

• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
• view colours, contrast levels and fonts
• zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen

The Academy10 Essential LMS website is fully compliant (excepting the items listed below) with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
Courses are mostly compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard with the exceptions stated below.

How accessible our website is

1. Academy10 LMS – learning management system

The Academy10 Essential LMS website should meet all of the ‘Using this Website’ rules defined above.
Note that however, organisations can customise their own look and feel and sometimes this customisation may not meet all the rules.
The functions that may not fully meet the standards are (note there are work arounds and options in most cases):

• Some LMS administration features
• Intelligence reports
• Calendar tables
• Pinboard and Directed popups

SkillGate is working to ensure all of these elements meet our rules.

2. Off-the-shelf courses produced by SkillGate

There are thousands of courses in the SkillGate generic library. Almost all meet the ‘Using this Website’ rules.
However, there are some older custom inclusions that may not. Specifically, these may include:

• Older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software
• Video streams and some of our existing videos do not have transcripts
• Some images don’t have alternative text of what the image shows
• Some complex images and graphs may not be explained clearly to visually impaired users
• Some older interactive components may not be keyboard usable
• On some pages heading may use incorrect HTML elements
• Some content is not correctly held in sections
• Some tables may not have headings
• Some text may be held as images
• Links or buttons do not have descriptive text
• Some button labels may not be announced correctly to screen readers
• Some input fields may have placeholders instead of labels
• Text may have colour contrast issues
• Screen readers may announce hidden content incorrectly

3. Third party content produced with SkillGate SmartAuthor

SkillGate SmartAuthor provides all the features necessary to create learning content that meets with ‘Using this Website’ rules. However, courses created by third parties with SmartAuthor are not checked by SkillGate.

4. Third party content produced with other authoring technology

Academy10 can host courses produced by third-party authoring tools. Courses created by authors using third-party authoring technologies are not checked by SkillGate.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are working to resolve all identified accessibility issues which are within our control and will release them as soon as solutions are available.
